Renowned guitarists Kaki King and Tamar Eisenman are proud to announce the release of SEI, the official recording of the original music from their  live performance SEI.

SEI (Italian for “six” and also “you are”) features 16 guitars, transforming the stage forming a constellation of sound. At the heart of SEI is a radical concept: music composed through choreographed movement. Each note in SEI was born from physical motion—creating a rich, embodied musical language that blurs the line between composition and dance. The album, recorded live without any overdubs, captures the emotional and experimental music originally composed for the full-length theatrical performance. The Music in SEI travels between different reflections of our day to day life; “You are” coming to life over and over again whether it’s through Love, Hate, Parenthood, Creativity and Compassion. With only guitars, non-standard tunings and synced movement by the players, SEI is a deep and playful dialogue of guitars, weaved through body language and masterful guitar skills.

Kaki & Tamar:

“We’ve been friends for 15 years, so collaborating on SEI felt natural—but the journey was far from ordinary. It all began in late 2019, when we first started imagining what a performance entirely driven by guitars, movement, and meaning could become.

The first pilot of SEI took place on February 29, 2020, in Kingston, NY. Tamar was nine months pregnant at the time—just two weeks before the world shut down. Like so many projects, SEI was paused. It would be another two years before we could return to the stage. But we never stopped working. We spent countless hours in Kaki’s studio, surrounded by her vast guitar collection, experimenting, composing, and reimagining what the guitar could do—not just as an instrument, but as a physical presence. We designed custom stands to hold the guitars upright, built a rotating Lazy Susan for seamless transitions, and physically mapped out the layout needed for SEI’s unique movement-based compositions. Together, we shaped a new language—where music is born from motion, and every gesture tells part of a larger story about creativity, identity, and human connection. SEI became more than a performance—it became a shared and deep experience between us. This album captures the heart of that process. It is the music of SEI—created through movement, emotion, and years of devotion.”

Kaki King, the first female on Rolling Stone's "guitar god" list, is a true iconoclast. Dubbed by Rolling Stone as "a genre unto herself," Brooklyn, NY-based Kaki King has proven to be just that.  Her career has taken her all over the world, sharing stages with Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters, contributing music to award-winning films (Sean Penn's Into The Wild), performing at the Kennedy Center, the London Jazz Festival, and the Paris Les Femmes s'en Melent.

Tamar Eisenman is an acclaimed guitarist, singer-songwriter, and composer who has released seven official studio albums and received an Emmy nomination for the best original soundtrack in Israel for the "The CGS'' documentary. “...I saw Garry Moore, B.B. King, and Jimi Hendrix all on one stage Reflected through Tamar Eisenman, whose performance borders on perfection.”
